The admission procedure for diploma mechanical engineering course ( Royal mech ) starts along with all other branches if you have good marks in secondary school examination you can choose your own dream branch , or you will have to be satisfied by the branch what you get .

Eligibility to apply for diploma courses are those who passed 10th std , with compulsory pass in maths and science subjects in the qualifying examination ( X ) class marks , admission in Diploma Engineering courses shall be made on the basis of merit of secondary school examination (X) , or equivalent qualifying mark

To apply for diploma course you will have fill the application form of department of Technical education , of each state , issues the official notification for admission in different diploma courses in the official websites , students must visit the official website of the Department of Technical education and fill the application form in online mode

In some states there are also exam for Diploma courses like DCET conducted by Karnataka state

Since you didn't mention particular state and college it is not possible to tell the correct date.

Some states conduct Centralized Counselling for Polytechnic admissions where the candidates will have to exercise the options. The seat allocation will be done on the basis of candidate’s preference and merit.

You can also apply for direct admission in various private polytechnic colleges. The admission will be based on Class 10 ^th marks
