The institute is a self-financed private unitary university established by the enactment of the Birla Global University Odisha Act, 2015. At present, BGU Bhubaneswar operates six schools including, Birla School of Management, Birla School of Communication, Birla School of Commerce, Birla School of Social Sciences & Humanities, Birla School of Law, Birla School of Applied Sciences.
