IIT JEE is a national level exam for admissions to the undergraduate engineering courses in top engineering institutes in India like IITs, NITs , IIITs and the Govt funded Technical Institutes.
It is organised in two parts- JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.
Through JEE mains, you can get admission into NITs,IIITs and GFTIs. It is also an screening exam for JEE advanced. Through JEE advanced, you get admission Into IITs.
You can appear for the exams right after you finish your class 12th.
Please note that you can appear for JEE mains for three consecutive years after your 12th(the first being the year you appear for your 12th) and for JEE advanced, you can appear for two consecutive years after 12th(the first year being the year you appear for your 12th).
