You have not mentioned which National Institute of Technology colleges you are asking about so I will mention the information I got about NIT Silchar, NIT Trichy, and NIT Andhra Pradesh.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic classes in all NITs will happen in online mode. The education program will follow the National Education Policy 2020 authorized Government of India on 29th July 2020.

NIT Silchar classes have already started from Dec 16th. The mid-semester exam will start on 31st Jan and continue till 5th Feb 2022. The results will be revealed by 11th Feb. Practical exams will be conducted and finished by 25th March. End semester exams will happen by 4th April and continue till 9th April.

NIT Trichy has also initiated its online classes on Dec 17. It intended to start physical classes by March 2022.

NIT Andhra Pradesh also started its online classes on Dec 27.
