which are the best private b-schools accepting CAT scores?
Hi Vijay,
3 months of self preparation is decent to attempt CAT if your energies are focussed in the right direction. Over the next 1-1.5 month, I would suggest you to follow the following strategy to make the score 90%ile+. You can easily target 95-98%ile also but with enough dedication.
Start with subscribing to mock test series of Career Launcher or T.I.M.E. They give you a set of module or topic based tests and also full length mock tests and sectional tests. Go with this plan:
1. Solve one mock test every alternate day. There are 20 tests. So it will take you 40 days. If you take the test one day, analyse it the next day.
2. The day you don't take a mock test take sectional tests and analyse your performance. Make a note of where you have made errors and make sure you don't repeat the errors again.
3. On the day when you take full length mock, take concept based tests too and analyse them. Daily put 1hr each for practing VA, LR-DI, QA apart from doing tests Focus your full energy on this for the next 2 months.
You should be able to get 90%ile+. However at 75-85%ile too you should be able to get calls from the following:
1. Great Lakes
2.IBS Hyderabad
3. TAPMI
4. IMT Ghaziabad and all other branches
5. IMI Delhi and its branches
6.Goa Institue of Management
7.KJ Somaiya
8.LIBA
9.IRMA
10.IFMR
11.BIM Trichy
12.XIME bangalore
(The above list isn't any ranking. It is random order)
There are many more colleges. You can search online. But target for 90%ile +
All the best !
Hi Vijay,
First I would like to know whether you have some experience or a fresher. If you are not working then with 3 months of thorogh preparation for CAT you can score really well. You just have to identify your weak points and focus on it. For experience also you should give some mock tests and improve on your weaker section. There are lot of good private colleges accepting CAT score.
1. MDI, Gurgaon
2. SPJIMR, Mumbai
3. Great lakes Institute of Management
4. Ta Pai Management Institute, Manipal
5. IMT, Ghaziabad
6.BIMTECH, Greater Noida
7. Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai

All the Best
Hi Vijay,
You can easily crack CAT with 3 months of preparation if you put your heart into it. Don't limit yourself to 70-75 percentile. If you can put in the effort for 3 months, you should probably keep this year's CAT as a benchmark and work hard towards a 100 percentile next year! Keep the bar high. :)
If you are keen on joining MBA this year itself, then there are numerous private B schools and tests you can aim for. The below link by Careers360 gives an overview of the B schools, their rankings and the tests that can be taken to grab a seat in them.

My personal suggestion would be to not go below rank 20 in this list, as the institution you are passing out from plays an important role in your starting salary and career post MBA. If you get a call from any of the B schools in top 20 ranks, go ahead and give it a shot. If not, I would suggest that you put in more effort next year and prepare for one whole year to crack your dream IIM! :)
The below link will give you an idea about the cut-off percentile required for most B schools (Private as well as Public).

Good luck for your exams!

Many reports have their own mechanisms of ranking the management schools but most of the times the categorization cosists of the following parameters:
Quality of students
Placements
Age and Image of the Institute
Location of the B-School
Quality of infrastructure
Fee
Programmes offered by
institutes
Keeping all these parameters in mind following is a list of private colleges that accept CAT score:
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai
Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon
S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai
National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai
Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics (DSE), University of Delhi
Department of Financial Studies (DFS), University of Delhi
International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi
MICA Ahmedabad
Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research & Entrepreneurship Education, Mumbai (SIMSREE)
Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Trichy
FORE School of Management, New Delhi
Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM), Chennai (PGDM Two-Year Programme)
Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA)
K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SIMSR), Mumbai
T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal
Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB)
Regarding the point that only 3 months are left for preparation, see dedication can help you achieve anything you like. Keep working hard and stay up top with the test series so that you can work on your weak points. Honestly aim at 100 percentile and believe in it and you will get calls from IIMs as well.
Don't worry too much and work hard towards the exam preparation. :-):-)
Hey Vijay!
Three months preparation with dedication is more than enough to clear CAT with a secured seat in old IIMs. Still, I would name few top Business Schools in India, where you would need above 85 percentile in CAT score to secure a seat.
1. MDI, Gurgaon
2. SPJIMR, Mumbai
3. IBS, Hyderabad
4. IMI, Delhi
5. Goa Institute of Management, Goa
6. Fore School of Management, South Delhi
7. XIME, Bangalore
8. IMT, Hyderabad
9. BITS, Pilani
You can get top BSchools ubder CaT if uou score above 85 to 90 percentile and with very goid GDPI score.
All IIMs, SPJain, ISB, NITIE, KJ Somaiya,, JBIMS,, Etc are top notch colleges under CAT.
