I wonder on your question as till now no branches are alloted as for toppers or non toppers.It all depends upon the interest of the student. If the topper girl is interested in mechanical engineering and i suggest you IT as the best branch,  then it takes no time for that topper girl to fail if admitted in uninterested branch.

If you have good knowledge of computer languages you should opt CS engineering.



CS engineering provide good package placement to students . CS provide good Job opportunity and career security.





But if you have interest in other branch you may also opt any other branch. I suggest you to opt your branch on the basis of your interest . If you have good knowledge and interest in your branch you will definitely get good package placement .
