Electronics and communication engineering is a branch where you study electronics and some parts of communication whereas electrical engineering is the branch with electrical and electronics subjects. When you check the cut off trends, you can see that the EC branch has a lower cut off than EEE. This is because EC branch has more job opportunities in recent world than EEE as it involves the more of digital technology and communication. But this was not the situation 10 years back, that time EEE was more difficult to get than EC.
Also, your interest matters the most. Try finding what is best for you as per your aptitude.
