Dear Student,

To judge which branch is tougher, you must know your interest in one branch. Because it totally depends on your interest, knowledge and research area.

Mechanical engineering is a sub-branch of engineering which consists of application of engineering principles for the design, production and maintenance of various mechanical systems. This branch includes the study of construction and treatment of heat and mechanical power for manufacturing the tools and machines.

Metallurgical engineers work with metals and alloys in a variety of industrial and manufacturing settings. If you enjoy theory rather than numericals, you will like metallurgy. The competition for higher studies is also less in this branch. The national average salary of a mechanical engineer is around 32,000 per month.

Mechanical engineering is not tough but the most diverse branch. A mechanical engineer is solely responsible for the design of an engine. If your interest lies in designing, building and mechanisms, you will like Mechanical engineering. The average salary for a mechanical engineer is 35,000 per month in India.

The toughness level depends solely on your interest. Explore both the fields; course structure, job opportunities, etc which will give you the idea of where your interest lies.

Good Luck !

Hi

Both Metallurgy and Mechanical are specializations in engineering so it is difficult to tell which one is harder. You can choose the one in which you are interested.

Mechanical engineering deals with application of engineering principles in design, production and maintenance of various mechanical systems. It also involves construction, treatment of heat and manufacturing of tools etc

Metallurgy is focused on metals and metal related areas. It can be divided further into 3 specializations that is physical Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy and Mineral processing.

Hope the information is helpful to you
