Hello Buddy,

Mechanical engineering is the branch which have more jobs in government sector. This is all beacause the goverment jobs in PSUs,ONGC,IOCL,HPCL,BPCL,CIL,NTPC have been increasing day by day. Thus there are many other private jobs in collaration with government are in grave need to recruit the skilled graduates who prefer to undergo smart work rather than donkey work. The number of jobs have been gradually increasing year by year, now approximately the vacancy count has been increased to 1000.But the life of a graduate in agovernment sector depends upon the GATE score.

Thank You for showing your interest in this question.Kindly note the abobve point sand make the neccesary preparation to meet your success fruit.

Hello,

Mechanical engg is the branch which will fetch you the government job.Reason:-It is the only branch which has minimum of 1000 jobs/year including PSUs and state government jobs. For the current year ,there are vacancies in PSUs like ONGC,IOCL,HPCL,BPCL,CIL,NTPC and if you add up the number of vacancies in these six PSUs it will easily cross 1000 mark, these are the PSUs which recruit through GATE and then there are PSUs like SAIL,NPCIL etc which conduct their own examination. Then ofcourse there is IES too and I have not included the state government jobs. However to fetch a government job,you need to study hard as there is huge competition in mechanical engg too.I state you a data which will give you a rough idea of the competition.GATE 2015 had about 185000 mechanical engg graduates taking the examination and only top 700-800 air candidates stand a chance to get into these coveted PSUs.(the reason being that the top 200 rankers have more than one job and many PSUs don't announce second list and hence many vacancies get unfilled ). So you have to study hard and prepare well in advance for Gate (the ideal period to start for gate preparation is just after 6th semester provided you have studied your subjects well in the previous semesters).

Electrical engg comes second in the no. of vacancies in jobs of govt sector. It has vacancies in above stated PSUs too but the number is bit lower compared to mechanical.(no. of vacancies are atleast 600-700) If you are more comfortable studying electrical then you can opt for electrical too.

For civil the only advantage is that the number of vacancies in IES is more than any other branch and the branch is bit easier compared to mechanical/electrical.However the scope of this branch is not much constant.Sometimes it is very much in demand and sometimes it dwindles.

For Chemical, the number of candidates are lesser but the quality is high. The products are mainly IITians,NITians and from top notch private engg colleges. The competition is hence high. The vacancies are roughly around 400 this year. So if you don't get mechanical/electrical/civil then opt for chemical. And lastly I want to emphasize that you shouldn't take any other branch (other than these four) if you are interested in govt job.please don't take "ec" as it is the branch which has least scope in terms of job in it's sector leave alone the govt job.I have seen many EC frnds suffering.

Therefore, mechanical provides highest government jobs.

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.

Dear aspirant,

The course of CSE or better knows as computer science is the most demanded field and has a lot of requirement

eg companies like BSNL being a telecomm company needs computer engineers who are skilled at designing softwares needed to operate the system efficiently.

Also fields like electrical see the most recruitment as well in government power plants and state grids.

Finally there's civil engineering where  you can get government contracts for roads building etc etc

These two fields will have the most recruitments. Thaking C.S would be way better as you'd get plenty of private jobs as a result just incase you dont get the government job.

Hy there

If you want to apply for government jobs. You can aim for civil engineering it's helpful and will have more opening for government jobs. After that you can go for mechanical engineering if you like that's also good. Wishing you luck.

Dear if you have branch-like civil engineering, electrical engineering, Automobile engineering branch then you get government job through it through gate exam or another way. Even you can apply for technical entry at defence like CDS, Afcat through computer science branch.
