M.D. in General Medicine is 2 to 3 years a postgraduate course in medicine. General Medicine is the medical specialty involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Enrolled students are familiarized on an advanced level with the field of medical science, through experimentation, observation, theoretical knowledge, and practical exposure.



General medicine focuses on diagnosing as well as treating common health problems or disorders such as nausea, cold and cough. Subjects covered in the courses curriculum include Genetics, Social Science, Health Education, General Medicine applied to the Field of Public Health, Occupational Health, Maternal and Child Health Rehabilitation, and Public Health Administration etc.



The average monthly salary offered to successful postgraduates of the course varies between INR 1 and 12 lacs. The fast-evolving health insurance market, pharmaco-vigilance, telemedicine sector, pharmaceutical industry and clinical research offer lucrative opportunities to such professionals.

Eligibility for M.D in General Medicine



As a minimum criterion of eligibility, aspiring candidates need to have completed MBBS/BAMS with a minimum aggregate score of 50%, with 1-year compulsory internship. Also, a minimum aggregate score of 60% at the level of graduation.



Often, candidates are required to qualify an institute, State or national-level entrance test for admission to the course.



M.D in General medicine:  Admission Process
