Dear,

The decision to study in a government or a private college should be made after judging some of the basic criteria. First of all, prepare a list of both Government and private colleges  where your desired  course is available. Once you have prepared the list then you can see the affiliation of these colleges and their university ranking, mostly QS ranking is preferred. Thereafter, shortlist the ones with higher rank and check the cut -off as well as other admission requirements.

The second stage is selecting the college as per the financial capability. Private colleges have comparatively high fee structure and some additional expenditure such as membership charges, etc. Government colleges are affordable and also consider relaxation as per government norms- such as  fee concession to economically weaker students who can produce valid certificates. This might not be the case with private colleges.

Third criteria is to check the profiles of college faculty, Alumni database, college facilities which are crucial to pursue your desired course such as Laboratories for science students, Computer labs, Library , college playground, etc. An active placement cell and collaborations are can help in developing professional network. The college having research grants and projects will provide you with good exposure.  Also, check out the various Extracurricular activities and clubs which are of your interest.

Some other pointers for selecting between a government and private college are location and transport facilities, canteen, college surroundings, nature of crowd.

At last, it is the  student who has to be an active learner. No institution is perfect in all aspects. It is the student who has to learn the art of converting the available resources into opportunities and do well.

Hope you got a clear understanding of how to chose a decent college for begin your academics. Wish you good Luck!

Hello,

Sorry to say dear but your question is not clear. You didn't mention which department of college. Because every department have government and private colleges.

If you are said it normally which one is better then always suggest you government college is better. Because government college fees is much lesser than any private college. Government college have government degree which can help you for many job sector.

Now always depand on which subject you want. Because some time some government college for science stream not that much equipment which are available in private college. So make your which department you want then think which college you want to join. But always prefer government college in 1st.

All the best.
