Actually it varies from department to department. If you are thinking of computer science ECE and EE then my personal advice for you is that please don't spoil your future by joining CU. They don't even give bare minimum marks,  almost 20_25 percent students crosses 7 SGPA. There is no placement cell in CU. Most of them doesn't even passes the eligibility criteria of some companies. Passing marks in individual subject is 50 in CU and teachers don't have any type of mercy.

I had been a student of KGEC for four years(B.Tech EE-2015) and believe me you will find people from diverse backgrounds with different skillsets and very different life experiences...

3)Well connected to Kolkata

You can take a train directly from Kalyani Ghoshpara station for Sealdah...U'll be there in an hour...

4)Less costly as compared to Kolkata

Having stayed in Kalyani...I can assure you that the cost of living in Kalyani as compared to Kolkata is far less...

5)No pollution

Situated within the Kalyani University of campus,your eye will have a good rest with lush greenery of the campus...

6)Best hangout places

the campus area itself is studded with many small tea shops...as well as a canteen...serving as a quite a vibrant hangout places...and if you are staying in P.G. in the ghoshpara locality... u can't resist yourself form visiting the ghoshpara station(free entry to all) and ghoshpara playground which are the commonest hangout place for students of KU,KGEC and other college students in the ghoshpara area
