Both Biotechnology and B.Pharma are good and interesting fields. They are more or less related to each other. So first off be sure of your calling.
After pursuing your bachelors in Biotechnology you can work as a research analyst and you can also go into bioinformatics. You can go for higher studies as well. You can get the opportunity to explore both Government and private sectors.
However,if you have intrest in medicines, then go for B Pharma and given the fact that the demands for medicine is increasing rapidly, there is ample opportunities for you.
So,be sure of your calling and work accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
Hey Nimisha,
Scope in B.Pharma
There is a lot of scope after completing B.Pharma, but it depends on your decision in which field you want to get into. Generally after completing the B.Pharma as per your lecturers suggestions you will have limited options like Pharmaceutical industry, marketing, Mpharma, Mba , Own distribution , pharmacy shop and other fields. Have you heard of SAS programming, Pharmacovigilance, Medical writing, Clinical Data management. I learnt SAS programming and got into Contract research Organisations like (Quintiles IMS, Paraxel, PPD and ICON). These are the companies that offer jobs for Bpharma. But my friend you need to have lot of patience to get a break into the CRO. I’m working as SAS programmer currently and I enjoy working in a CRO. As of now it is difficult to get a job for fresher especially for Bpharma candidate. If you are not particular about the job location then you have more chances of getting a job in CRO.
Scope in Biotechnology
Biotechnology has wide scope and has its own importance and need. You ‘ll find many opportunities.
Job depends how you did any biotechnology course and how much expertise you have in your subjects. Your mastery and your expertise in the field decide your growth. If you have good command over your subjects, you have sufficient Practical knowledge, you are good at soft skills then, nobody can stops you from getting a good job. Go for the college which are good in terms of education and placements. Biotechnology provides a firm basis for pursuing a career in any aspect of science involving food, pharmaceutical or environmental sectors, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, nanobiotechnology, use of microbes, DNA vaccines, production of new materials using new ideas, new drug-delivery systems, organ transplantation, rational drug design, nutraceuticals, plant-based drugs, enzyme engineering and technology, stem cell techniques, and tissue culture. Biotechnologists can find employment in a wide range of industries like food processing, breweries and pharmaceuticals. Also, the MSc degree is an acceptable qualification for applying for a PhD.
Final Choice is upto you.
