Hello Aspirant,
There is no doubt that maximum jobs in India are in IT section, and seats in IT fills the fastest. Since, there so many options-Btech, Bsc, BCA out there it can get a little confusing. This blog post is regarding all the branches related to CSE/IT in India at graduate level. Read along and clear your doubts.
As I see it CSE is like the parent branch and SWE/IT are like child branches. That is the simplest explanation I can give you.
Now if you want to know in more detail:
IT generally focuses on the real world application of computer knowledge i.e. it is mostly focused on software part.
While CSE is a broader field it focuses on software, hardware and also has a little bit electronics and electrical side to it. Basically, CSE tells you what Information technology is, where do you apply it, how do you apply it and also when you apply it what is it that is actually happening.
Computer Science as the name suggests is the Science behind computer application, it is more related to innovation rather than just application.
Although these days the difference between these two branches has started to fade. Many colleges have even removed the IT/SWE branches and there is now only CSE with different specializations.
This shows how the needs of the society is changing and now we need professionals those who can not only apply but also innovate.
Even if you see the placements CSE has better placement records than IT/SWE, I am in no way saying that CSE people are always better than CSE or anything like that I just mean that the concept behind CSE branch is what is good. It doesn't matter what branch you are actually in as long as you strive to become better and focus on thinking differently, innovate and execute efficiently. That is what the companies see in people and not the branch that you are from. Generally, CSE records are better because they have grown habitual to thinking in that way.
This may help.
Happy learning!
