Hello Saurav,

If you're looking forward to taking up any of the streams from - CSE, IT or ECE. I would like to tell you a bit about each of them.

Well, CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) and IT (Information Technology) both are pretty similar education streams.

The difference between the two is very minute.

CSE - Computer Science engineering students study the design, implementation, and management of information system of both software and hardware processes.

IT - IT professionals perform a variety of tasks that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases.

To make it short and simple, Computer Science is the production of software and hardware by using different programming skills. On the other hand, IT is just the selection of the proper software or hardware for the task.

Now, coming to ECE, in ECE you get the chance to know about the hardware and make that hardware to do work for you. It deals with the electronic devices, circuits, communication equipment like transmitter, receiver, integrated circuits (IC). It also deals with basic electronics, analog and digital transmission & reception of data, voice, and video (Example AM, FM, DTH), microprocessors, satellite communication, microwave engineering, antennae, and wave progression.

Now, depending upon the current market situation CSE would be the best choice as it has most opportunities of fetching you a job also Indian market has a lot more scope for CSE than ECE or IT. The IT Industries are booming in India right now.

And talking about salary, software engineers earn more than IT professionals. But if you climb up the corporate ladder and become IT consultant or get any managerial post then you will receive an average salary of around 7–8 Lacs per annum depending upon which company you work for. Though CSE and IT are almost the same, the companies always prefer a CSE student over an IT student.

So, if you are interested in coding and software development then you can take CSE or IT but my suggestion is that go for IT only when you don't get a seat in CSE.

Now ECE being a core branch, there is a pretty good scope of getting government jobs and you can even join the IT companies, so you will have a lot more job opportunities open in the ECE stream.

All three of the branches have a great future in India and abroad. I would suggest choosing the branch where you find your curiosity which is the essence of learning in any field. But keep in mind that you need to continue enjoying your subject lifelong or you will end up feeling frustrated.

Give your liking and interest the maximum preference before making any rash decisions.

Choose wisely!

Good luck!
