If you are asking for the UG course which can be best for UPSC then I would say that there are no such so called course which is purely helpful for your UPSC exam. No UG course can help you that way. You have to prepare separately for the UPSC exam in order to crack it. Thus i would say choose any subject which you are interested in because if you are interested in the subject then you will feel less burden about your study and you can focus more on your UPSC preparation. Apart from this I would recommend yoh to go for general courses more than Honors courses as for hons course you have to invest more time in your UG course. But if you choose General course then you will have relatively less time investment in that course.

Now if you want to know a subject which can help you in your work life then here are some subjects:

  • Public Administration
  • Economics
  • Legal Studies
  • Criminology

But believe me every year a lot of aspirants becomes IAS without any prior knowledge of any of these except there GS studies and not in there UG course. So your selection doesnt depend on your UG course but on your preparation of exam itself. Also you will get enough trained as you join any service so dont worry about which will help you in your work life.

Hello,

There is no such thing as best course to crack UPSC, the reason being your graduation degree will not be defining factor when it comes to success in UPSC exam, if you see toppers of this exam they come from diverse backgrounds as that of medical, engineering, science, commerce etc, but yes the only advantage that humanities studies have is they are already well acquainted with the syllabus unlike aspirant from other backgrounds, so having a graduation in political science, public administration, law, history, economics, geography etc helps in the sense that there is considerable amount of overlap with general studies and optional papers, but you also have to keep in mind that UPSC tends to be unpredictable, hence think carefully regarding the decision whether you want to have a back up plan with it or not, if you don't obviously you have to be extremely focused, dedicated and persistent, since this exam is highly competitive and it demands only the best from aspirants.
