Masters in Business Administration or MBA is a degree course offered by the Universities (both Government and Private) and Colleges affiliated to these Universities. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a Diploma programme offered by B-schools/Colleges that are recognised by Government of India’s nodal body for technical education - All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

It’s important to note that even the prestigious IIMs and ISB Hyderabad offer Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) and not MBA as they are neither a University nor are affiliated colleges to any other university. However, with passing of IIM Bill 2017, IIMs are expected to offer MBA in coming years.

I personally suggest to go for a PGDM rather than a MBA if you want to be an Industry ready person rather than holding a degree because of certain operational advantage of PGDM. Apart from the degree it is also the college that matters a lot. Colleges with higher ranking, accredation, alumni network, infrastructure, industry collaboration works at the time of placement. Also go through the reviews of students and alumnus before finalising the college to do your dream degree.
