Hello Piyush.

Multi National Companies do have the requirements of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Students as well as the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) students. Both these courses takes 2 years and seem much closer with each other.

But, there are few differences behind both these courses:

-Masters in Business Administration courses is offered by the colleges under the rules and guidelines of the respective University. But the Post Graduate Diploma in Management Courses are offered by Independent bodies like autonomous colleges in India. These courses are not validated and under the rules of any University but it directly falls under the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Rules and Regulations.

-MBA courses are approved by the Universities which act under the University Grants Commission but PGDM courses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education.

-Post Graduate Diploma in Management Courses are not much standerised as Masters of Business Adminstration. The reason is because autonomous colleges are much independent than the colleges under the Universities. But if you are pursuing PGDM course from a highly reputed and prestigious college then this issue will not happen but if you are pursuing PGDM courses from minor colleges then this will not be of much importance. The value of your diploma course will be fruitful only if you pursue PGDM from reputed colleges.

-The syllabus of PGDM is more flexible and the most updated ones but the Management courses syllabus takes a long duration of time, around 5 years to be revised and updated. The reason is so because the AICTE keeps upgrading and revising its courses with the latest advanced tecnhology and current scenario but UGC is a bit traditional in this.

The PGDM courses are equivalent to that of the MBA courses and the students of PGDM are equally eligible in every sectors like the MBA students. Hence, both these courses have their own importance and you may pursue any of this course. If you will study from a better college then you will get a better knowledge which will give you a better career opportunity.

I wish you all the best for your career. In case if there is something more to ask, please feel free to mention.

All the best, Piyush.

Mba and pgdm they are both similar and different to each other. You cannot really say which one is better. It depends upon various factors like the b-schools you are getting into. Mba is only provided by colleges which are under a university and provide a degree whereas a pgdm course is a diploma.

hope this information is helpful to you.
