Hello,

First of all, if you think that you want to be an IAS then I will suggest you to go for Bachelor In Arts.

You can take majors Political science or sociology.

This subjects help one to crack any government exams like UPSC, SSC CGL and State Public Comission Exams and RRB too.

This subjects are very informative and easy to understand.

I will say if you belong from Arts background then please go for it but if you are from other background like Science, I will suggest that think twice or thrice or hundred times before changing streams.

UPSCs syllabus is unrecognizable and it changes with time.

So. work hard and start reading newspaper and always motive yourself.

Hope I Helped You.

Thank You.

In my opinion you should go for ARTS, that would be really helpfull for the preparation , as you can easily cover history and other subjects that comes as a major in the IAS exam.

Hello,

In my opinion irrespective of what the past and the current trends suggest, as far as cracking the IAS exam is concerned, it all comes down to the passion and interest of the candidate. Even if you pick the so-called ideal steam or the subject, it will not matter until and unless you really are passionate about it. Along with passion, the stream that you choose should also inspire you to study well and study hard as there is no replacement for hard work when it comes to the civil services examination.

Humanities have traditionally been termed as the bastion of civil services examination. If we look at data released by the UPSC in their annual reports, we can see that humanities subjects have had a higher success ratio compared to others.

Cheers !!

BA with HISTORY POLITICSPUB.ADMN SOCIOLOGY ECONOMICS are good subjects. Choose maximum available subjects and study side by side other subjects also.

If you are taking subjects like political science, history, sociology.

So it will help you in Mains.

Other benefit is you do not need that much time to spend to focus on your course,so you can give more time to UPSE preparation.

So if your determined to do UPSE then go for it and use that time for UPSE preparation.

The advantage of a plain BA over others is:

  • Overlapping subjects.
  • Considered easier than other courses allowing you to focus more on Civil Services.
Sometimes courses like Political Science, History, Geography, etc. help you lighten your burden in context to optional subject preparation.

Thankyou
