which courses is better between b pharmacy and doctor of pharmacy
It's depend upon the country from which you are deciding to do pharm D or B pharmacy.Let us consider for now,you want to pursue either one of these course from India.
So in reference to India, B pharma course is much better then Pharm D in many ways but for these you need to understand scope of both these course in India.
B.pharma- course duration:4 years
Scope:1.one can open medical store,
2.Various government job option available for example Drug inspector,railway pharmacist etc
3.one can get job in privates Bps companies like TCS, Cognizant,Iqra etc
4.one can work in various pharma domain like manufacturing,pharma coding(SAS), distribution of medicine etc.
Demerit of B.pharma:For getting into research feild you must have to do M.pharma(2 years course) after completion of B pharma. As most of core pharma companies like cipla,sun pharma,lupin,glenmark mainly employ M.pharma graduate for research related work.
Now let us consider Pharm D scope.
Pharm D- course duration:6 years
Scope:Mainly Pharm D graduate mainly referred as clinical pharmacist who work in close collaboration with medical staff in hospital .
1.Main job is to provide proper consultation to patient related to medication as well as disease they suffering from
2.Pharm d graduate have an great demand in countries like USA,Cannda,Germany,UK etc and infact it is an high paid job in these countries
Demerit of Pharm D- Unfortunately,this course have an less growth as well as demand in India. As India is mainly physician dominated countries and most of the people are self declared doctors. So it's hard to believe that people will going to take consultation from an any pharm D graduate.Good news is that various hospital in India now started to realize importance of clinical pharmacist but it will take years to gain importance as it have in foreign.
To sum up,if you want to do either of these courses from India then opt for B.pharma and in case if you decided to do from foreign countries then opt for Pharm D.
