The eligibility criteria of Indian Foreign Service only states candidates need to pass bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university, so there is no such restriction to belong to any specific stream regarding this, there are certain subjects like political science, international relations, geography, history, economics etc which has considerable overlap with the syllabus of general studies and optional subjects, if you have interest in any of these you can pursue graduation in the same, but you should remember that even previous year toppers come from diverse backgrounds when it comes to qualifying the examination, and honestly speaking it's more of your personal attributes such as single minded focus, dedication and perseverance which helps a candidate to qualify this exam, you must be aware of the extensive syllabus, long hours study ,so it's definitely require best efforts on your part to succeed in this exam and moreover it's highly competitive, so go for whatever stream you wish for, there is no barriers for the same.
