Hello there, Smrita. If you want to become a Chartered Accountant, then you need to qualify Chartered Accountant course under Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI). Here is the stepwise process of becoming a Chartered Accountant:

-CA Foundation: CA Foundation is the first level of becoming a CA. The CA Foundation Exam is an Entry Pass for the beginners for CA. The candidates will be eligible to take part in this examination just after their Class 12th. It is compuslory for the students to qualify CA Foundation Exam for taking admission in this course. CA Foundation Exam takes place twice in year, one in the month of May/June and another in the month of November/December. The students are given 4 months time to prepare for this examination. This means that the registration for May/June examination gets closed in the month of January-February only.

-CA Intermediate: As soon as the student qualifies the CA Foundation Examination, he/she becomes eligible to enroll himself/herself for CA Intermediate. CA Intermediate is the second phase of becoming a CA. The students are given a time period of 8 months to prepare for this examination.

-Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS): After sitting in the CA Intermediate Examination, the students will have to go through a 100 hours of Infomation Technology Training Program and Orientation Program which is conducted for a period of one week. As it takes more than 2 months for ICAI to publish the results of CA  Intermediate, so the students may complete this procedure during the gap time.

-Articleship: Once the students have passed CA Intermediate, then they are allowed to do Articleship. According to the rules of ICAI, it is compuslory for the students to do Articleship for a period of 3 years just after qualifying the CA Intermediate Examination. Therefore, the students need to work under a well qualified CA for 3 years in order to gain practical experiences.

-Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills: As per the rules of ICAI, the students have to complete 100 hours of Advanced training program. Students can take part in this program just after completing the 1st year of their articleship.

-CA Final: After taking the Advanced Integrated Course, the students will be able to take part in the CA Final Examaniation. The students can take part in this examination during the last 6 months of their Articleship training. After successfully qualifying in the examination, you will now be a qualified CA, either you can work in your CA firm, or be a part of a major business consulting company.

So that was the process of becoming a CA. In case of more queries, feel free to mention. All the best.
