Being an engineer i know what exactly is the answer. Its not the branch that will lead to your drem job or your dream paycheck, its the interest you have for that branch, will lead you to your dream paycheck.

I'll suggest dont run after money instead do what you truely love. Doing what you love will automatically attract money for you.

Suppose now you chose the branch which someone suggested you to take and that might be helpful but think what if it is not your cup of tea, then you are trapped. Once you are trapped in something believe me you will not come out of that trap ever again. So before selecting the branch ask yourself what really you want and then go for it.
