Dear Aspirant,
There is no branch immune to financial depression, no computer science no information technology nothing. You can say that IT/CSE has a good future in coming 4-5 years, but this is no immunity to financial depression.
However, if you want to be immune yourself, then focus on skill building, whether in CSE/IT or Mechanical/Civil. If you have a proper skill set, then any financial depression might not hit you that hard as compared to it will hit to your colleague.

Seeing the future of engineering branches i guess CSE will have bright future as the branch is very vast and in future everything is going to be digitalized. But I'll advise you not to choose branches seeing what is it's future packages,etc choose the branch you like because if you'll be having no interest in your studies then you can never be good engineer and so you'll feel depressed even after a good job and in most case students struggle for jobs.
