Some courses which belong to core of engineering are Mechanical Engineering,Civil Engineering ,Electrical Engineering .These branches are said to be as evergreen i.e they are always in demand .Other than it due to develpment of technology Information Technology,computer science can also be a great choice.
AI,Chemical ,Agricultural,Mining can also be chosen from according to in which your interest persists .

It's a beautiful field of study, which focuses on application of knowledge!!. Applications which can change the way people live. The essence of engineering is in creation. People build engine, bridges, robots etc.
As far as branches are concerned, CSE is the "hottest branch" now. You can see yourself the impact of computers & mobile in your life. Given the future opportunities, choosing CSE/IT would be a great choice.
But again, your choice of higher studies must be based on genuine interest, not on peer and other factors!!
