Hi Kavin,

The procedure to join Army after engineering is by appearing for CDSE or applying the technical Entries whose applications are rolled out twice in a year as CDSE. CDSE-Combined Defence Service Examinations conducted by UPSC consists of 3 papers i.e, English, General Knowledge, Mathematics 100 marks each for IMA, INA and AFA, 200 marks for OTA i.e only GK and English.

The technical entries are based upon your percentage in the Engineering and the cut-off’s vary for every stream.

The technical entries are SSC-Tech and TGC(Technical Graduate Course).

Thank You!!!

Hey Kavin,

Good to hear you that you wanted to join defence forces Well all the branches are of equal importance to the Indian Army. I would suggest that in whatever branch you are interested take up that, study well, score well, clear the SSB then definitely one day you would be having those stars on your shoulder. And The best branch for engineering course for indian army is the mechanical branch because there many technical entery in the ARMY. so the mechanical branch students get the maximum benifit in get selection.

All the Very best.

U may take up any engineering course, keeping in mind mechanical engineering is better choice since it helps in better understanding of the mechanism of equipments.

Hi Kavin,

First of all, it's great to hear that you really want to join Indian Army. To join Indian Army, you can take any engineering branch as there are a lot of opportunities in every branch.

But if you want to join more technical job in Indian Army, I think you should get in Mechanical Engineering.

This page has some very good information about opportunities in Indian Army:

Respected sir,

Engineering plays an important role in day to day life including everything even defence sector.

In defence sector being an engineer, you will also be an defence person.

So it the bi function, and believe me being a defence person and an engineer means a lot.

Mechanical Engineer, aeronautical engineer, electrical n also electronic are prefer the most  and then other respective branches but these plays a big role in defence.

Thank you

For army engineering doesn't matter at all. You should satisfy only their physical , medica l and aptitude criteria.

Ncc matters

SSC(10th) marksheet matters

In some post 12th in Science also require.

For Airforce, from any branch of BE you can apply for AFCAT exam.
After clearing exam you have to clear SSB interview.
Then you are trainee for 6 months at any location in India.
