Which engineering has more govt jobs after btech in civil or mechanical engineering
hello Darpan
Both have equal opportunities. The PSUs recruit fresh graduates every year who qualify GATE. The cut offs vary with company and are usually high. Secondly, the ESE conducted by UPSC is another way into government sector. To be more specific, Border Roads Organisation, CPWD, MRTH, MES, IOFS, Railways, Survey of India etc. Similarly, there are vacancies at state level in State Engineering Services conducted by SPSC in Rural Engineering Services, PWD, Irrigation Department, Ground Water Department etc.
If you are asking for the best then IES ( Indian Engineering Services) is the answer but PSUs like NTPC, ONGC , IOCL are also good options.
Hope you are doing well. B.Tech in Civil Engineering has more amount of government jobs than Mechanical Engineering. Starting from construction of roads to offices, surveying of government lands, sewage treatment setup and other things, Civil Engineers are highly preferred for government jobs. Mechanical Engineering doesn't have scope in government job. I hope you got the point after reading this answer.
All the best.
