I believe EEE and ECE are both comparable branches, have their respective importance and excellent scope and are taught in most of the Engineering and Technical Institutes in our country.

However from certain aspects ECE seems to be a better choice than EEE. Firstly the curriculum of EEE is more complicated and tough than ECE loaded with assignments and theories in most Technical Institutes. Whereas ECE has a perfect, structured and student friendly curriculum which is a perfect blend of topics ranging from CSE, Electronics, AI, Material Science, Semiconductor Technology to EEE.

Hello aspirant,

ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) and EEE ( Electronic and Electrical Engineering) are sound quite similar and students often get confused between these two.

Here are few points that differentiate this two branches.

  • A EEE student also has to study electronics along with electrical engineering but in ECE , students study about electronics and some part of communication engineering.
  • EEE contains Electrical technology and machines, circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetism, electrical engineering materials, instrumentation, control systems, power engineering and transmission and distribution. ECE deals with analog transmission, basic electronics, solid state devices, microprocessors, digital and analog communication, analog integrated circuits, satellite communication, microwave engineering, antennae and wave progression.
  • In placement, the competition in EEE is not very hard and there are lots of jobs available. EEE graduates get job in Boards/Utility companies responsible for installation, maintenance, operation of power handling equipment and systems.
  • In ECE , there is a huge scope for govt. jobs. An ECE graduate can find a job in Central Government, State Governments and their sponsored corporations, private industries dealing in manufacture, sales and services of electronics consumer goods and appliances.
  • But if you are thinking about JTO, DRDO, ISRO and GATE then EEE is not a good choice because to apply for these EEE students have to study a lot of other thing apart from their course curriculum. But, for ECE students there wont be any problem as they have a different paper for ECE. Also, ECE students can take IES while EEE students can't.

Hope this points will help you to choose you path.

Good luck!

Every branch has unique opportunities in itself . But if you want to know about the fine difference between these fields then the following points can be your answer:

  • EEE is Electrical Engineering and ECE is Electronics and Communications Engineering.
  • EEE involves electronics and electrical study while ECE involves study of electronics and some part of communications.
  • In core companies, demand of EEE is more in comparison to ECE. Whereas ECE students can apply for IT companies as well. EEE students don’t have much scope in Indian Engineering Service(IES) while ECE students have. ECE can get govt jobs with high probability than EEE.

One can't make any difference on this behalf. I would request you t read the course details about both the courses from the university website you want to take admission in , compare them and then only you can find out which subject will you feel interested in.

I hope my answer helps you. All the very best for your future endeavors!
