Hello,

There are usually three stages involved in banking exam Probationary Officers Recruitment Process:

Preliminary, Mains there is also descriptive test, and followed by Interview(which does not happen in case of Clerk)

Now, the level of PO is comparatively high to that of Clerk, over the years this change has taken place, so one has to really have good grasp of Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning ,English, General Awareness(this doesn't come in preliminary stage).

Speed and Accuracy matters a lot, as I said the level of Quant and reasoning is pretty high, so apart from conceptual understanding what matters is practice, practice is the key to success here, if you search in the Internet there are many banking sites which have free mock papers, so one should make use of that, for instance if one completes a particular topic, then apart from solving questions from the book, it's equally important to make use of this mock paper, this will make one analyze one's strength and weaknesses. The free mock papers are available for all the sections such as Quant, reasoning, and English.

Some of the recommended books for Quant Section are ione ca  use NCERTs if one doesn't possess the conceptual understanding, as it's  written in simple and lucid language, other good books are RK Agarwal's Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Exams, M Tyra's Quicker Maths, Arihant Publications Objective Mathematics,  for a bit higher level of practice one can use Arun Sharma's Quantitative Aptitude for CAT, for reasoning there are MK Pandey Analytical Reasoning, RK Agarwal Verbal and Non -Verbal Reasoning, in English section one can use Wren and Martin for Grammar, for Vocabulary one can Word Power Made Easy, for practice purposes Objective General English by SP Bakshi is really good.

Newspaper reading too is equally important on a daily basis, as banking exams is all about business, so it's better to read two newspapers on a daily basis just covering the important parts, and most importantly the Editorials, the best options are The Hindu(in the past RCs in English section have come directly from here only) and The Economic Times, there are various sites which offer monthly compilations to students, there are magazines such as Pratiyogita Darpan which are equally good, but reading newspapers covers so many portions of preparation such as vocabulary, knowledge, language skills, it also helps in increasing reading speed.
