Hi ,
It depends upon you which you find more interesting and both of these are totally different from each other . Nowadays importance of bams is increasing day by day and if you have practised it  from a government college then there is more scope and higher salary chances . Whereas in bds you can setup your clinic and and is generally considered after mbbs.
So choice depends upon you ..

Hello Sandemuskan
Now here's the thing. You cannot compare two career options as a whole. The probability of success in any field depends on the knowledge you hold and how updated you are. There can only be a few pros and cons regarding the availability of options after completing the degree.
  • so let me talk about BAMS first. This is a 5 year course where you learn everything from anatomy, physiology and basic principles of ayurveda, to big or important subjects like surgery. You have plenty of options to go for after the completion of your degree, like jobs, or MD, MS, PG diploma courses, and also MBA.
  • BDS on other hand is a science related to only the teeth. It is too a 4.55 year course, with equal number of options to turn towards after its completion
  • BDS
  • Most sought after option after MBBS
  • Actually many Dentists end up earning more than any other speciality doctors..however, a very small fraction of total number of dentists can do this
  • More practice oriented curriculum
  • Sorted life as you may not have emergency duty like other branches..
  • High earning potential with newer and newer techniques, equipment and material coming into the market
  • Cons:
  • BDS market is saturated, especially in urban areas. You may have to find a rurban (urban periphery or small town) for clinic to cut down on breakeven time..
  • However, many opportunities lie in government system if you are willing to go to remote areas..that is also needed to increase access of oral healthcare to all
  • MDS has become a must or try and find some speciality training courses to increase your skills in implant, cosmetics etc and market yourself accordingly
  • BAMS
  • Get to learn whole about medicine, not restricted only to a particular region as in BDS
  • May take up general practice
  • Ayush doctors are employable in MO roles in government
  • You may find a niche and only do consulting in that area to earn more. There is a trend in high society to adopt Ayurvedic..especially in skin disorders, chronic diseases and for prevention purposes to boost immunity as a whole.Collaboration with naturopathy, yoga and fitness clubs will be an amazing opportunity.
  • Research in ayurvedic drugs may be a good opportunity post BAMS..
  • Cons:
  • No scope of doing BAMS practice in normal urban area as patient preferences have changedneed to find a niche and focus on a niche
  • have to be ready to go to villages or small towns if you want to stick to general practice using allopathic medicines

It's your choice what you want to doas far as what is happening in the market, graduates from both streams are trying to find alternative careers in public health, hospital management or general management as there is saturation of BDS and BAMS in the market
Discuss with family, friends, teachers and make informed decision also you need to think and decide for yourself as it is your lifeyour decision
All the best.
