Dear Yugal, there are around 450 Government Medical Colleges across India. These are distributed all over the States. There is All India Quota and State Quota which means 15% of seats in All Government Medical Colleges will go to All India Pool leaving 85% for Domicile candidates. Then there is 27% reservation for OBC, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. Then there is 5% horizontal reservation for PWD. Now every candidate has to qualify in NEET based on his/her category. It is 50% for General Category, 40% for SC,ST,OBC. It is 50% and 40% of top NEET score. With 15 lakh students appearing for NEET for approximately 60,000 Medical seats, no seat can be handed with least NEET score. Every Government college will have its own cut off for various categories. Tamilnadu is one of the States which has highest NEET cut offs given the reputation of the colleges and no.of candidates applying. Depending on the State you belong to, you can claim All India Quota and State Quota. For General Category, the last year minimum cut off was 119. But not every qualified candidate gets a medical seat. Anything less than 350-400 will not get you a Medical seat if you are from General Category.
