You can study any undergraduation course in any stream to become CID Officer. But Criminology and Criminal Justice course would help you to join CID. There are many Universities which offers Criminology and Criminal Justice.

You must write Indian Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSE. Selection process includes Written Test, Physical Fitness Test and Interview.

You must have studied 12 th standard in any stream from a recognised Board. You must complete graduation from any field from a recognised University or College.

If you have completed your graduation you can join as Sub-Inspector in CID department.

The minimum age limit is 20 years and maximum age limit is 27 years. 5 years relaxation in age is given for reserved candidates.

The number of attempts for General Category candidates is 4, for OBC Category candidates is 7 and no limit for SC/ ST candidates.
