in todays era, there is nothing a girl cannot do which only boys can do. so please dont feel like that. and it is really necessary to know your favourite subjects or stream because you need to go a long ride of 4 years journey of btech. how evr some girls dont like to go for field work. so civil and mechanical engineering is out of question for them. there are some good designing companies in electrical engineering where most of the work is computational. so my suggestion is for you is compuer science, IT, electronics and communication engineering and electrical engineering according to most of the girls choice criteria.

Engineering should be a passion and its not a mandatory course . The selection of the course should be based up on your interest



Any how as you asked there is a lot difference between Mech and IT fields



If that girl is interested in IC engines Jet engines , SOM ,Fluid Mech and other interested subjects she can choose Mechanical . If not so , she is interested in



JAVA , C ,C++, .NET, SQL and other programming platforms then she can choose IT field.



More over IT field is better for a decent girl..
