I think tag works more and you can even change your branch after first year if you score good GPA in your btech first year. Once you get admission into any prestigious college of engineering like nits job opportunities enhances as tag matters , like an iitian from reputed iits even if he is pursuing metallurgical engineering get a job of more than mechanical engineering from reputed nits .And jamshedpur nit is a hub for metallurgical engineering the most highest packages for a metallurgical engineering in nits goes from nit jamshedpur.
