which institute is better for btech IMU KOLKATA OR IMU CHENNAI ?

Both colleges are indeed very good. but if you want to choose among them, IMU Kolkata seems a better choice. IMU Chennai is a recent college compared to IMU Kolkata and placements before 2017 was only decent but not upto the mark. The college is improving now.
IMU Kolkata is the oldest marine institute which was founded in 1949. The campus is good with good infrastrucutre and good academic staff. The placements here better than IMU Chennai with around 70-75% of placement records on average. Some of the top companies that recruit students are Mediterrinean shippong company, Scoripon shipping, fleet management etc. Also scholarships are provided for merit and eligible students. It has their annual fest called Tempest. There are a lot of facilities like canteen, gym, swimming pool etc.
However, decide looking at other factors too as per your convinience.
