See both the courses are equally good and colleges too.

But it's comes to your interest in which branch you are keen interested. For an ECE undergraduate m.tech in VLSI is like a dream comes true.

For ECE the top M. Tech specializations are

Priority 1: VLSI/ Microelectronics/ Embedded Systems

Priority 2: Communications

So if you choosing between two branch than go for VLSI . Placement scenarios of M.tech studnets in any of IIT'S is not so good as compare to B.tech students but if you are good in academics and loves the subject then you can get easily placed.
