Hello student,

There is no such thing as some branch is better than the other. Your choice depends on your inclination towards that branch and its related aspects.

Civil engineering is like its name relating to all the infrastructures and projects of civil interests such as buildings, bridges, roadways, etc. You can do the following masters after civil engineering:

  • Construction Engineering and Management
  • Remote Sensing
  • Structural Engineering
  • Transportation Engineering
  • Geoinformatics
  • Infrastructure Engineering and Management.
  • Geothechnical Engineering.
  • Environmental Engineering.

Whereas, mechanical engineering is based on mechanical aspects of any industry such as automation, vehicle, machines, aviation, etc. You pursue the following masters options after mechanical engineering:

  • Mechatronics
  • Nanotechnology
  • Robotics
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Aerospace engineering
  • Missile & Defense Weapons Technology
  • Rocket Propulsion & Thermal Engineering

I hope this helps, All the Best!

Hi

It cannot be said, it depends on the preference of the student taking admission and the college. How is the college performing for both of these branches and if they are able to provide such curriculum that could allow them to get core companies of these branches. That said, here is a comparison of these two branches which will aid you in making your decision:

Civil engineering directly affects the natural environment and typically benefits groups of people and/or communities.  Mechanical engineering most often entails the design of a thing or a process that largely benefits individuals.  To put this statement into context, mechanical engineers design automobiles driven across a roadway designed by civil engineers.  Beyond college, civil engineers in the industry develop solutions to support that construction of many site and physical improvement projects including:

  • Bridges and roadways;
  • Utility (water, sewer, electrical, gas) infrastructure;
  • Site development;
  • Stormwater management;
  • Environmental protection/mitigation

Typical designs and industries that mechanical engineers are involved with include:

  • Automobiles, aircraft and trains, etc.;
  • Building mechanical equipment; and
  • Robotics and automation equipment.

Good Luck

Hello Ankit,

I hope you are doing well and good. As you asking for which is better in between civil engineering and mechanical engineering so it's all depends on you what you have to choose in both the courses you will learn new things and stuff.

As you know that Mechanical engineering is the study, design, development, construction, and testing of mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, engines, and machines

Civil engineering – the application of planning, designing, constructing, maintaining, and operating infrastructure.

With better and broader subjects, Mechanical engineering offers better scope than civil engineering. Civil engineering primarily targets a field whereas Mechanical engineering can be further divided into a variety of fields.
