So, to answer your question , i would say that both government and private colleges have their own pros and cons, and it's ultimately you who has to decide which are the things that are important to you. If we keep aside the fees aspect, the other important thing is cutoffs , which are definitely higher in government colleges than private.
Apart from that, some government colleges doesn't have good campus and infrastructure, and even cannot give exceptional placements, but on the pros side, they have well learned and experienced teachers, so education is top class in government colleges. In private colleges on the other hand, the campus and college life is pretty good, the placements are decent too, great in some, but the fact that their fees is very high, not everyone can join a private college.
