Which is best for electronics & communication HIT Or RCCIIT kolkata ?
Hi,
Infrastructure
HIT campus is around 35 acres but along with the law, polytechnic and marine engineering campuses the area comes out to be 85–90 acres. The infrastructure support is great. There are separate hostels for students of a particular year. The hostels are humungous. Each hostel has a volleyball court and a badminton court inside the hostel itself. Rooms are spacious and are allotted on a triple sharing basis. There are common toilets which are cleaned everyday. On campus you will have a football field, a basketball court, a gym and a common building which has the tt tables and carrom boards. The classrooms though non air conditioned are extremely roomy. Haldia is a very windy place so ACs are not required. There are mess kitchens in every hostel which serve 4 meals a day. The food there is decent and cheap. 3 canteens, 1 restaurant, 1 barber shop 2 Xerox centers and 2 general stores have been provided on campus for the convenience of the students. Food is cheap in Haldia. Cost of living is low. At around 5000 per month you will lead a lavish lifestyle( I mean king-size) for the next 4 years.
2. Academics
Now enough about infrastructure. Academics is taken very seriously in HIT. Classes are conducted on time and as scheduled. They are rarely cancelled. Professors will help you if you really want their help. People here are very motivated. Right from the 3rd year, students start preparing for GATE,CAT,etc. The institute has recently started preparing students for these competitive tests. Academics is where HIT outshines every other college in it's league. Students here generally study in groups(though right before the exams) and this creates discussion allowing better understanding of the concepts. Regular assignments and internal tests help students keep in touch with the academics. HIT has the best laboratories and can beat any college under WBUT in that aspect. The labs are well equipped and has adequate machinery for every student. Lab assistants are very helpful and treat the students as friends (you will need this during practical exams, trust me).
3. Placements
Placements, the thing you waited to read about. Placements were once the crown jewel of this institute but in recent times it has taken a hit(no pun intended). It is mainly due to the job scarcity in the market itself. Core jobs are low in number and talented people, high. If you are serious about your placements then there is a job in the IT sector or a sales profile job for you. As for core jobs they need both luck and hard work to crack. This is the situation in every private college in the state. The major IT recruiters that visit the campus are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, IBM and Tech Mahindra.
