Which is best for placement , private or government engineering collage?
The placement records of the popular government colleges are very good on an average. Many well-known government colleges throughout India have provided stellar placements. It should be noted that some government colleges that are not well known have a very poor track record. It is important that the government engineering college should be popular. Checking the placement records of the college for the past few years where you plan to join will give the placement potential of that college.
In case of private colleges, it is difficult to assess this parameter as there is a wide disparity. Some of the private engineering colleges running successfully for a decade or so have made significant efforts to have a tie-up with multi-national companies and the students of these colleges are able to secure excellent placements. At the same time, there are many private colleges who fare badly in providing placements.

Good luck!
Considering current situation one cannot exactly comprehend whether Government Engineering Colleges are good for placement or private.
Naturally we all must have heard about NITs and IITs being good in terms of job, but now imagine a college like NIT Nagaland or NIT Agartala against a private college which falls in the bracket of top 5 private college in a particular state. Surprisingly the placement of those top 5 private colleges will be better than the remotely located government college which can fetch you the tag. If you care for the tag more and can manage to struggle a little to find a job off campus, you can consider joining some of the lower ranked NITs.
But if you want an overall perspective then you should consider overall rankings which covers all the colleges across the country, based on these ranking you can extend you preference list to top 50 or 60 colleges in the country. That would be comparatively insightful.
