Both colleges are in the positions of top 2 private engineering colleges in west bengal. The overall standard of IEM and Heritage is almost same. In academics, both colleges are same too. I can say that placements of IEM is just a little bit better than Heritage, but Heritage is also very good(in 2015, 508 students were placed in TCS in Heritage). What is really annoying in IEM is its strict school like discipline. The students are not allowed to bunk classes,75% attendance is must to attend the labs; they are not allowed to enter the college after 9am, not allowed to escape from college before 3.30pm; they have to come in college uniforms. IEM just sucks the college life of students. IEM also lacks of good infrastructures and large campus.
On the other hand, Heritage has a very large & beautiful campus and good infrastructure, 2 canteens, no such strict disciplines. You can come any time in college,bunk any class you want and attend only those classes you want, attendance is not a big issue here. Also there is a football ground, tennis court,basketball court, you can play there. Any time you can come to the library and spend your times by reading books. There are also music club,dance club,photography club,robotics & coding clubs etc. , you can be a part of those clubs and spend your time by doing what you want.

Though HIT-K was my first choice over any other college-

1. The biggest private campus in Kolkata.

2. HIT-K is now autonomous, which is a good news.

3. Placement scenarios are better than many other colleges. Last year 508 students were placed in the zero slot (TCS).

4. Faculties are mostly helpful. Well furnished computer labs.

5. WiFi Campus.

6. Recreational facilities in the form of indoor & outdoor sports, large grounds, Basket-ball court, various extra-curricular facilities.

7. A well furnished central library and digital library.

8. No constraints on entry and exit time, unlike a few other colleges which still feels like school. Many other colleges would make you wear uniforms too.

9. A couple of canteens (good food at cheaper prices available), Pratap Mart. Hostel accommodation also available but limited in number.

10. The larger canteen is under renovation. Hope it would be ready by the time odd semester commences.

11. College Fest- Eclecia, Technical Fest- Daksh.

CONCLUSION : If you prefer PLACEMENT : go for IEM

If you look for good college life : go for HERITAGE .
