There is nothing like average student. If you have the will power to achieve your dreams you can do anything . Going for meet or her is depend upon your interest that what do you want to do.

First of all it's nothing like average or bright student, it all depends upon the amount of hard work you put in the preparation of the examination, I have seen students getting 70 % only in 10th and then they work hard , prepare well and qualify examinations like jee and neet examination and get into their dream college, so it all depends upon your hard work.
Now what you should choose between medical and engineering should be on the basis of your interest , if you like biology and wants to study machinery of our body and help people in getting rid of disease then you should go for medicine , medicine is intellectually exciting and quite fascinating.
But if you like maths and machines, technologies then you should go for engineering.

Number of seats in less in Medical compared to IIT+NIT and other top college taken together so in terms of that better to target engineering , but the challenge never ends there because a lot of engineers are unemployed so if you have trust on yourself then you should try for NEET.
