Hi Indumathi
I would like to answer your question elaborately , but paragraph reading is very cumbersome , so in the form of points the following words will help you get clarity for your doubts.
1.Commerce is a very promising field today and it will offer you a number of options and opportunities to choose as your career. Bachelor's in Commerce after 10+2 can available in both regular and correspondence form.
2.But regular college is advantageous only if you make it up to the finest commerce institutes in India, and one can be blessed with a good college only if the result in 12th boards is 95% and above. Even though 90-95% score can also yield a good institute depending on the cut off.
3.One should always go for a regular degree as it provides you good academic as well as social exposure, and classroom teaching makes you regular in your studies.
4.Sports, curriculars, extempores, debates, quiz, internships all these opportunities knock at college campuses and one should not miss to avail them.
5.There is less requirement of coaching classes if your college provides good classroom teaching facility.
Popular colleges : Delhi University affiliated colleges such as Sri Ram College, Lady Sri Ram College, Hindu College, Ramjas College, Gargi College, (New Delhi), St Xavier's College (Kolkata), Loyola College, Chennai, Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics (Mumbai).
6.If you are more interested to pursue a professional course in commerce then it becomes difficult to manage regular classes for both bachelors as well as professional course. That is why it is advisable in this case to continue B.Com as correspondence while completing your professional degree.
7.Professional courses are really tough and demand good seriousness, time dedication, commitment from the students for 4-5 years. CA, CS, CMA are the three main professional courses in commerce. They work mainly for auditing in the corporates, be it secretarial audit, cost audit, internal audit.
a. CHARTERED ACCOUNTANCY- involves expertise in company accountancy and taxation.
b. COMPANY SECRETARYSHIP- involves expertise in corporate laws but also includes accountancy and taxation as side areas of expertise.
c. COST ACCOUNTANT- involves expertise in cost and management accounting but taxation and company accounts is also required to be studied while pursuing the course.
However there is no hard and fast rule for the above. If you can manage and balance well your timings, sitting and hard work then pursuing both the courses regularly simultaneously is possible. Another reason being that the syllabus for both of them is very similar. Subjects are same but scope and pattern of subjects is different.
8. Another situation arises where you are not financially strong enough to pay your college fees for regular 3 year course, then correspondence courses are suitable but it is advisable to either find an internship to work for side by side as correspondence degree doesn't have much value.
Even if you fail to score good marks in class 12th, still there are many institutes that will provide admission, either on entrance exam basis or marks based. But go for correspondence if regular college is inconvenient for you at the moment or if you are pursuing a professional course like CA, CS simultaneously.
Happy to Help :)
Hi Indhumathi.
Greetings.
The best is regular college degree rather than correspondance as the value for the degree falls if one does correspondance.
Thanks.
