• GNM

This diploma programme is meant to prepare nurses to work as nurses and to acquire skills that would enable them to fulfil responsibilities such as giving first aid, working effectively in a team, and aiding in research activities in a hospital setting.

The curriculum also provides as a foundation for individuals interested in furthering their studies.

-3 years 6 months

• ANM

The ANM course is comparable to the GNM course in many respects, however it is more of a foundational training programme. The ANM course expects students to have a basic understanding of nursing as well as the ability to offer first aid and primary medical care to patients.

However, as compared to GNM and B.Sc N., ANM has a more limited syllabus due to its shorter length.

• BSc Nursing

A bachelor's degree programme meant to prepare nurses for practical elements of nursing, such as delivering first aid, putting up equipment, informing patients, and managing the appropriate operation of hospital wards and ward employees.

The training also covers aiding doctors during medical operations, research, and other topics.

-4 years

CAREER:

Graduates of both GNM and ANM programmes have similar job opportunities. However, one significant distinction is that GNM provides a better potential for career advancement in terms of both income and work environment.

When compared to Diploma courses, B.Sc (N) is a 4-year degree programme with considerably greater possibilities, especially if you plan to pursue postgraduate studies.

AS AN END NOTE

If you graduated from a non-science high school, ANM is your sole choice for pursuing a nursing profession. A candidate can pursue a GNM course after finishing the ANM programme and becoming registered as a nurse, making him or her eligible to enrol in a B.Sc (N) Post Basic programme.

A GNM course would be your best choice if you come from a science background and want to get experience and start a job before pursuing further school. Graduates of the GNM programme can pursue a B.Sc (N) Basic or B.Sc (N) Post Basic degree.

B.SC (N) Distance programmes are also open to GNM applicants with at least two years of work experience.

A science stream applicant who wants to finish their education before starting a career might look into a B.Sc in Nursing degree, which allows them to pursue an M.Sc programme. After completing an M.Sc, a candidate can pursue additional education, such as a PhD, or seek employment.
