which is better course BCA or BTECH in computer science or B Sc. in computer science??
Dear aspirant
Before choosing one course between BCA, B. Tech, and BSc. in Computer Science, you must know what each subject will actually offer you. Briefing the vast fields, here are some important points you should know about the three courses:
BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications)
It is a 3-years Undergraduate degree program that primarily focuses on the applications of Computers. Here, understanding about the hardware functionalities of Computers is not important. You will be taught about web-based applications, and the basics of Computer programming. There are a number of career opportunities too after completing the BCA degree, be it self-employment, a job in a government sector, or may be a private sector as well. You will have endless opportunities to be a system analyst, programmer, system manager, network designer, game developer, and a web designer as well.
B. Tech in Computer Science
It is a 4-years Undergraduate degree program which is basically Engineering with a specialization in Computer Science. Here, you will learn the core concepts of Computer Science, including both hardware and software concepts, along with their applications. The course includes topics like digital circuits & system, data structures, operating systems, database management systems etc. The job opportunities include working as a software engineer, software developer, application developer, programming analyst, network engineer, hardware engineer, test engineer and CAD engineer.
BSc. Computer Science
It is a 3-years Undergraduate degree program specializing in the field of Computer Science. The basic topics that you will be taught here are- disk operating systems, programming concepts, and control structures. You will be eligible to get jobs as a DTP operator, IT project manager, program analyst, software engineer, developer and programmer etc.
Now I hope that you know what actually these three different fields can offer you. Deciding which course to go for is completely a personal decision. But, if you take my advise, then you should know that pursuing degrees in BCA and BSc. Computer Science might require you to go for Master's degree too, in order to have a strong hold in the required field. But, B. Tech Computer Science is a degree with a complete course in itself.
All the three fields have good career opportunities. You just have to decide which topics you are interested in between- applications, core-concepts, and theory. Choose a good college/university with good education and good industrial exposure in order to both pursue a degree and get placed in a well-known IT company.
Hope this helps!
All the best.
