If you prefer to stay in Europe (where most MIM courses are offered ) and get an entry level management job, MIM is the course you should opt for. It is cheaper compared to an MBA and also requires no work-ex. Most MIM courses admit candidates with upto 2 years of work-ex. It is less rigorous compared to a full time MBA and is more focused on the basics of management. The salaries are not as high as a full time MBA but it is a highly sought after degree mainly in Europe.
MBA in India(PGP) offered by most IIMs and other schools is much more rigorous than MIM and comparable to a full time MBA abroad. The salaries offered are much higher and the fees is similar to the MIM programmes. If you want to settle down in India, it is an excellent option. These programmes are generally very localized and strong in the country where they are offered. Outside of India, it doesn't hold as much value as an MBA from an elite US/European BSchool. PGP programmes generally don't need much experience and 0 to 2 years is considered the sweet spot. The higher your experience, the more difficult it is to get a good job in campus placements. This fact has been reiterated by a lot of people.
