Both degrees have equal recognition with equal scope and future. More precisely, it’s your college and branch that matters. If a student is interested in research-oriented work and wants to pursue higher studies then B.E. may be preferred over B. Tech. However, in the present situation analysis shows that course content is almost same but the approach may be different.
Generally, institutes (including IITs) offering only Engineering studies named their degree as B.Tech.Ex: IITs, NITs, DTU
Generally, universities offering other degrees (like science, arts, education etc.) along with engineering named their engineering degree as B.E .Ex: NSIT, BITS-Pilani, Anna University Chennai
