Hi

All colleges teach their students to be the best doctors. governement colleges have more patient exposure and less fees as compared to private colleges. they can learn more treatment options and deal with various types of cases. however it also depends on the location and the infrastructure of the college. obviously govt college are preferred over private colleges due to less amount of fees.if u get a private college you have more chances of doing research and explore more options.

choose accordingly.

all the best!

Hello

According to me, government medical colleges are best. If you an admission in Government medical colleges after clearing NEET Exam, then you can get many benefits which are given below:

The course fee in a NEET Government college is less than the Private Medical College.

You get lots of patients, experience, and confidence in a Government College.

But, it is not easy to get the govt. college because their cut off is high. You can check the college wise cut off and total number of seats through the above link.

Thank You!!

You will find better teachers in NEET Government Colleges and you can learn a lot about medical science and life from them.

You can get the more practical knowledge in Government Colleges under NEET than the Private Colleges.

Undoubtedly Government medical college is better than private medical college for following reasons: huge number of patients, less fees, better teachers & colleagues, exposure etc. Unless you have enough patients to practice on, you can't be a good doctor.

Hello

Government medical colleges usually have a greater inflow of patients but not all have Supreme infrastructure or faculty

Some private colleges would make 5 star hotels field at lack of resources but at the same time they are bereft of patients and would not give you a good working experience despite the excellent Ambience and comfort that they would provide you in exchange for a lump sum monetary exchange

So you have to choose your college wisely but in general government colleges are always usually preferred for a better learning although they might not be as luxurious as private medical colleges

To be very clear, a government college helps you become a better general doctor in India. The private college will help you more if you want to apply for usmle or the likes

To say that one is better than the other would not be a 100% correct. It is not that black and white. It really depends on the college, the location of the college, the reputation of the associated hospitals, the quality of staff present there.

Based on my experience let me lay out some points for you

Govt colleges:

  • The college fees is subsidized so you will be paying lesser than you would for a private college.
  • Since the patient fees are lesser, there is usually a higher patient input and you can see a wide range of cases. But do not assume that all govt. colleges have a good patient input, do your research!
  • Teachers may teach you, or may not be present at all. Do find out from the students studying in the college how they feel about it before deciding on it.

Private colleges:

  • You can't assume that private colleges do not have any patients in their hospitals. That is a myth. There are plenty of private colleges with a high patient input. So again, do your research.
  • Equipment in private colleges may be better updated and more advanced. Some have have more advanced teaching models to help learn concepts better.
  • Libraries and learning materials are generally better updated in private colleges.
  • Teachers here are highly focused on preparing you well for your exams. Though an exam oriented preparation may not be preferred, that is generally the norm since a good performance by students ensures better reputation of the college.

At the end of the day it is a personal preference. Studying from a private medical college doesn't mean you are a less qualified doctor or a less qualified student. In spite of studying in a private college you can still gain experience by volunteering at medical camps or interning with hospitals if they allow it. Studying in a government college, you can gain access to advanced equipment by making field trips. Make sure you are well informed and speak to your seniors before you take a decision.

All the best!

Hello Rubiya;

FIRSTLY LEMME BE VERY FRANK, A GOVT COLLEGE IS WAY BETTER.

This is not a question worth pondering on for too long... No one takes an admission into a pvt college unless they don't get a govt one...

A govt college is far better than a pvt college, I'll tell u why -

Less fees! The college I studied in , GMC Nagpur, took meagre sum of 18k per annum from me, whereas in pvt colleges people have to shell out around 3-4 lakh on an annual basis .

Not to forget the heavy donation that they give to enter the medical field .

Better Teachers! It's only a myth that pvt colleges have better teachers, it's completely wrong...

The most famous doctors of a city feel pride in associating themselves with a reputed government medical college...and also the pay is more in govt lectureship and hence you'll definitely find better teachers in govt colleges.

Better colleagues!A man known by the company he keeps...and it is a well known fact that the people entering a pvt medical college are just rich kids who couldn't get enough marks and had enough money to shell out and take an admission, but with just the money they can't expect to get a competence level of a hard working meritorious student of any govt medical college.

Even in jobs outside , an MBBS passed from a govt college gets preference over an MBBS from a pvt institute...it happens in corporate as well as in govt jobs.

Exposure! This is perhaps the most crucial point.

The amount of patients , cases , student sees in his MBBS life in the postings in a govt hospital , even a post graduate student from a pvt institute doesn't see.

And medical science ksis mostly based on evidence based practice , and hence unless you have enough patients to practice on, you can't become a good doctor...

There are ample of other doctors to correct you, and since you are in charge of nothing , you're free to observe the minute details with which the seniors treat the patients ...

More authentic exams and hence better doctorsThe fairness in the practical exam is much more in a govt college than in a pvt one.

The only downside of a govt college is fewer parties, lesser budget in events and no celebrity guest in the function...

Other than this, any govt college is better than any pvt college.

Hope it helped
