if you are talking about CURRICULUM , then most of the renowned NITs have good curriculum don't worry about that thing… you can choose any of them.. on the basis of curriculum.

If you are talking about TEACHING ABILITIES AND QUALITY OF FACULTY then, through the sources of my friends in different NITs(trichy, surathkal, bhopal, jaipur,calicut,durgapur, myself being in allahabad) in every NITs faculties are well qualified and PHD holders you can't doubt on their qualifications as these are one of the most qualified pool of faculties you will get in anywhere in India , you will find some good teachers, some bad teachers who dont know how to teach in every NIT so teaching ability and quality of faculty is almost same in top 7 to 8 NIT, so it will not make much of a diffrence

If you are talking about the ENVIRONMENT AND CODING CULTURE then there is diffrence in different NITs… and this is one of the major factor for diffrence in the quality of CSE branch in different NITs according to my experience and friend's reviews coding culture in NIT SURATHKAL, NIT TRICHY,NIT WARANGAL AND NIT ALLAHABAD stand out among all the NITs

Now if you are talking about placements then its true that college matters but not to the extent that u think. If you are studying in a college which is 1 2 or 3(not a major diffrence) rank below then the top college.. believe me, placement of you would have been same irrespective of whether you were in No4 college or No1 college(if colleges are comparable for ex u can’t compare NIT trichy with nagaland)… because at last you need to put efforts, anyways ranking of colleges with regards to placements only rankings are as follows (only for cs/it)
