Phloem is a complex plant tissue that transports organic materials, mostly sugars (such as sucrose) and other essential compounds like as amino acids, from the point of synthesis (typically the leaves) to other regions of the plant where they are required for growth, storage, or energy. This is referred to as translocation. The phloem tissue is made up of a variety of cell types: Sieve Tubes: These are the phloem's principal conducting cells.  Companion Cells are specialised cells that live next to sieve tubes. Phloem Parenchyma: These cells store water and offer mechanical support to the phloem. Phloem Fibres: These cells help to sustain the phloem tissue structurally.
